A little about us

(A Brief History)

A vision for the lost in the Enid area was seen by Rev. Wayne Imboden, who was sent out by his church in Sapulpa, Oklahoma in 1939. With the leadership of God, a mission work was started in a small room in Convention Hall in Enid. The work was moved to Carrier and then to Banner Hall by Chisholm High School. The Church was established on April 7,1939, and was given the name Bible Baptist Church. A piece of land just west of Highway 81 on Phillips Road was donated and a building was erected. In 1941 the building was relocated to the corner of 11th and East Maple.

The Church then called Rev. Scotty Alexander as Pastor in 1943. Bible Baptist Church grew during Rev. Alexander's ministry from the small white framed building to a blonde brick sanctuary. In 1947, with a heart and a love for missions, the Bus Ministry of Bible Baptist Church was started, reaching children and families for the Lord. During this time we were blessed to see churches in Alva, Stillwater and Woodward established along with one in Lubbock, Texas.

On August 23, 1964 Dr. T. A. Chick was called to continue the ministry of proclaiming the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. While being led by Dr. T. A. Chick's untiring efforts to reach people for Christ, the church outgrew the blonde brick sanctuary and built the current sanctuary, which was dedicated in 1974. We saw the establishment of the Mid-America Bible Baptist College, which sent pastors and missionaries all over the world.

In 1997 Dr. T. A. Chick also led the building of the Ploughe Family Center, which is located next to the current church sanctuary.

The bus ministry of Bible Baptist Church, under the direction of Dr. T. A. Chick flourished, with as many as 300-375 children and adults riding the buses to church. Dr. Chick had a great love for the bus ministry and would often recount his own childhood stories of riding the bus to Bible Baptist Church. The bus ministry is still a very special part of the church's ministry today.

Thousands of lives have been changed all over the world because of Dr. Chick and Bible Baptist Church's great heart and love for missions during his ministry at Bible Baptist Church. Dr. & Mrs. Chick retired from the Gospel Ministry December 31, 2012 after 50 years of serving the Lord at Bible Baptist Church.

Rev. Terry Chick was called as Co-Pastor February 18, 1999 and became the Senior Pastor January 1, 2013.  He is currently serving as the fourth Pastor in the history of the Church. The message of the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ has not changed. The vision and love for the families of the Enid area , as well as the discipleship of God's children, which started over 80 years ago, is still the vision of Bible Baptist Church today. Rev. Terry Chick is continuing a work that is still flourishing!

Rev. Chick’s love and compassion for the church and the lost is unparalleled to and his excitement is what sets him apart from other preachers in the world today. He isn't afraid to tell you he loves you as he leads God's people forward to achieve greater expectations than ever before.

During his pastorate we have had men surrender their lives to full-time service.  We are currently training them in God’s Word, just as the preachers that were sent out many years ago.

We have seen our Pastor’s love for those in need, as he started our H.O.P.E. Addiction Program.  Through this program we have seen lives re-arranged and additions beat, thanks to the Lord!  It is his desire to continue this great Ministry and see many lives changed.

Rev. Chick’s desire is to lead God’s people to a bigger and better future, based on God’s Word!  In doing so, God will bless with souls being saved, believers baptized, and families surrendering their lives to Christ for the furtherance of the gospel.
